Mikis Theodorakis, the biggest Greek composer ever, died today, at the age of 96.

As a Music teacher, I arranged many of his songs/instrumentals for children's chorus and orchestra.

Plodr, that's an instrumental I arranged for my orchestra some years ago. Carl Orf orchestra and ukuleles. It was a really very very challenging project and I recall with nostalgia those days.

Actually the piece is devided into 2 parts: Οι χαρταετοί (the kites) and Χασαποσέρβικο (Hasaposerviko) it is the name of a Greek dance written with the specific time signature).

Here is another link with instrumentals (most of them have lyrics but here it's the music only). The first instrumental is Zorbas (Have you seen the movie with Anthony Quinn? ), the famous Greek Sirtaki.

Here, Andre Rieu (the Dutch violinist and maestro) with his orchestra play Zorbas.
