Corrine, First I want to thank you for the last answer. I have a new problem. I was trying to see what 10 had to offer & signed up to windows that asked for a pin #. I did that but now when I start up instead of saying my e-mail & name it wants me to sign in with the pin.

I think I fixed that but now I still have to sign in with my password. It is just a pain as I did not have to sign in before. I just can't get how to let me go back to the way it was. Not having to sign in ever time the computer starts.

I should not try new things on 10 & it will keep me out of trouble.

Thanks
Mary

Hi, Mary.

If your new PC is a laptop and you take with you, I suggest you consider keeping the PIN.  It isn't all that difficult to sign in with it.

There are settings you can change so that you don't need to sign in if you've merely been away for the computer briefly.  I suggest you try this first:

1. Click the Windows icon and then Settings (or merely type "Settings" in search bar on the task bar and select it when it appears).
2. Select "Accounts" and the select "Sign-in Options".
3. In the first section, "If you've been away, when should Windows require you to sign-in", change the setting to "Never".
4. Next, scroll to the bottom of that page and under "Privacy", change "Use my sign-in info to automatically finish setting up my device and reopen my apps after an update or restart." to "On".

If you are still not happy after doing the above and you wish to remove the sign-in pin completely, do the following:

1. Type netplwiz into the search bar on the task bar.
2. When the windows entitled "User Accounts" opens, with your user account highlighted, uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer"
3. Click apply.

You're welcome, Mary.  You'll be a pro on Windows 10 before you know it.  :)
