What sets Willow (Google's new quantum chip) apart is its ability to learn from its mistakes. While regular quantum computers can frequently err in problem-solving, Google claims Willow actually gets smarter as it uses more qubits, which are the units of computation in quantum computers. It's like building an incredibly high tower, but instead of wobbling more as it grows taller, it gets even steadier.

One of the biggest claims about Willow so far, is that it solved a mathematical puzzle in five minutes, that would take a regular computer 10 septillion years to solve!

Google has unveiled a new chip which it claims takes five minutes to solve a problem that would currently take the world's fastest super computers ten septillion – or 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 years – to complete.

The chip is the latest development in a field known as quantum computing - which is attempting to use the principles of particle physics to create a new type of mind-bogglingly powerful computer.
