I know very little about Dial-up and how it works, so I need some input.  After having the same IP for years and then changing to a new IP, can this cause problems?  Such as IE Cannot display page,FF page load errors, address not found, and timeouts?
I can't know...?

What dial-up Internet Service Provider (ISP) is being used?

Localnet.com is being used now and the prior was 777access.com.

I was hoping I could find something at FL.  Turns out we delisted Localnet some time ago when the setup fee took them over the $10 or less category.  I can see why you are no longer with 777access.com.  When investigating, I see the site has been hacked so delisted it from FL as well.

The reviews aren't all that encouraging either:  http://www.freedomlist.com/forum/comment.php?t=14924&action=read
An example from the forum:  http://www.freedomlist.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=31466&highlight=localnet

That said (sorry), I don't recall if you are using Windows XP or Windows Vista.  First step is to double-check the setup. It was trickier setting up a dial-up connection on Vista than XP.  The Localnet help pages aren't very helpful:  http://start.localnet.com/help.php

Next, check that your firewall or other security software are not blocking.

Just butting in here, but I have Juno during my first few years on dial up and it worked fine, still works today.  I keep it as a back up incase my DSL goes down. ( Since I use it so little they reduced to 5.00 a month.  When I travel it comes in handy).

BG, there are still people who use the old Juno software for their 10 free hours per month!

Same with Net Zero I believe, 10 hours a month for free.

:moreevil:    :muahaha:     UGH!  Guess I made a very bad decision, luckily I signed up for monthly(although after reading)could guite possibly be bad anyway. Think I had better start searching for a New ISP as this one sux BIG TIME! Tried to get with Juno free just to compare and have been unable to get it to work(sigh).  I had planned to get the free Juno and see if I would have the same problems as with localnet.  I now suspect I do not need to bother as my doubts have been answered.  Of course I got the same runaround as most of the peeps that rated localnet.  Phone lines, modem driver, etc. so off and looking I shall go!  Will soon be switching to cable, so just wanted something for the interim.  UGH!    :smash:  XP BTW.

We've had decent comments at Freedomlist about Copper.net at Copper.net improves support :: freedomlist.com

The writeup hasn't been updated in some time:  United States - Cheap ISPs - listing for copper.

I suggest searching FL prior to signing up anywhere:  $10 & Under Cheap ISP's - forum :: freedomlist.com.  (Yes, I'm there -- in fact, been there since shortly after FL started in 2000.)
