#1. How may I remove all of these SMILLIE icons from my posting area?  Do not use such things.  Have enough problems with other peoples computers.  Am a troubleshooter and annalist for friends.

Have been on computers since about 1974, Data General Main Frame 64bit using an old TTY for input/output, not a programmer just a user.  Been on the net since before Windows was developed and the World Wide Web (www) had not been developed either.  Using TCP/IP as our means of reaching one of the very few websites for us to access.  Yes working from a command line in Unix, later learned a bit about Linux, TTOOOOO geeky for me.

Just a simple user

Thank you for reading my ramblings

Hi, LxC.

If you use the Quick-Reply box, the smilies aren't visible there.  However, when/if you click Preview, then you'll see the full menu with BBCode links as well as smilies.

Welcome to LandzDown, LxC.

Your "ramblings" are very interesting. I noticed that you are a WinPrivacy beta user. How do you like it?

Again, welcome. Many wonderful folks here.

Just started with WinPrivacy.
It has helped me out already.

I discovered i had 'GeniusBox' loading an Internet Service.  Confirmed with WinPatrol and disabled.  After research I decided to uninstall the program and the associated issues are gone.

The issues were pop-up generated by   Symantec Endpoint Protection with no discernible information provided by Symantec.  Messages relating to 'Downlowder Poinik 3 trojan' and another trojan.  No other impacts to my system were discovered.  So far I am a happy camper. :Hammys pint:

Good info. Thanks. Didn't mean to derail LxC's "Hi Hello" with the WinPrivacy question, just interested. That aside, would love a stripped-down free version, because I'm so cheap.

Hi, Winchester & Corrine. Yes, those are both very reasonable offers. Except for my Norton 360 account that I first signed up for around 6 years ago (annual subscription), I just tend to avoid online renewable software. However, maybe it's time to come out of the dark ages. I first used Norton on my Mac, which probably never needed it, back in '95, when I purchased the disc from a brick & mortar. Anyway, WinPrivacy interests me. I would love it if there were some way to test drive it and kick the tires prior to purchase. According to the link that Winchester posted, it appears that I would already need to have a WinPatrol Plus account to take advantage of that offer, yet I'm a "Free Version" user, which I suppose explains your message, Corrine.

By the way, very sorry to step all over LxC's nice greeting, just noticed that he/she uses WinPrivacy and it piqued my interest. I'll now step away from this thread and discuss WinPrivacy somewhere else.

Thanks again!

I'm sure LxC won't mind another comment or two here, John.  You said, "...I just tend to avoid online renewable software."  I guess you didn't understand that WinPatrol PLUS is a lifetime license.  No renewals.  You purchase it one time and the license is yours.  When you get a new PC, you just download WinPatrol and add your license information.  The "beta sale" of WinPrivacy is also for a lifetime license.

Keeping in mind that this review is based on the first beta of WinPrivacy, this should provide a general idea of what WinPrivacy is about:  WinPrivacy review: new program of WinPatrol maker.
